*** Storm Water ***

In 1971 the Hallowell Water district was authorized by the state legislature to collect sewerage in the City of Hallowell and the title of the existing sewer collection system passed from the City of Hallowell to the Hallowell Water District. At that time (1971), the collection system was a combined system that collected both wastewater and storm water. In the early 1980's, the District created a new collection system for wastewater. Since 1988, this District has owned, operated and maintained two totally separate collection systems, one for wastewater and the other for storm water.

In 1999, the ownership of the storm water system was returned to the City of Hallowell
